Great ski resort for intermediate skiers! It used to have two base areas, but during covid the northeast slope has been closed off. It leaves very few hills for beginners, but there's still a practice area at the base of the Pegasus slope. When at full operation, there's plenty of choice to ski throughout the day, but currently skilled skiers may get bored with the lack of variety. Hopefully they return to full operation for the 2023-24 season.
Beautiful resort with good facilities. The slopes are generally beginner friendly with easy access from most accommodations nearby.
27/1/2020 snow level is not good at moment and if you are planning a trip it’s better wait until it snows again first.
Not for absolute beginners
Didn’t like the locals hospitality
A mid-size ski resort, can give a try if you stay nearby, but nothing wow to expect compared to major resorts like Nozawaonsen (that’s 20 min drive)
Very fun ski resort and not very full
Good terrain for such a small ski area. But with its low base elevation and southern exposure, Togari's surface conditions are often soft and wet. As lift ticket prices are low, the place is a favorite destination for school and university students, who mostly snowboard (80%+). The number of lesson takers wearing numbered bibs over identical outerwear is impressive.
Like many too many other ski destinations in this country, annoying pop music piped from the lift towers is a needless distraction.
On the plus side, their cafeteria menus offer tasty options at reasonable prices.
With the right conditions, certainly worth a visit.
Great resort and conditions for skiing and boarding!
The woman at the reception desk is snarky and should be warned in advance. I heard other tourists saying, "Why is that woman so bossy?". Other than that woman, the staff was good.
Also, they charge a significant rental guarantee fee, unlike the information provided at the time of booking. I recommend buying your own goggles, gloves, and knit hat.
